Journaling: New Leaves
Come one come all, welcome to the fall...
There are leaves all about and none of them are particularly new; in fact, quite the opposite, they're all old, dead, and beautifully riding the autumn breezes. Nonetheless, I'm trying to turn over some new ones. It's going to be slow going, but I'm hoping that a bit of writing will help me gather myself.
In so many ways, I've allowed fear to govern how I live; it's frustrating and devastating. I know it's a question of balance - there's a point where confidence and courage fall off into foolishness - but I think perhaps a little foolish recklessness would be good, if applied to the right parts of my life.
What might those be? Anyone who reads this probably knows me, and anyone who knows me knows my only real preoccupation for the last 8 months has been my lack of occupation. As such, my main goal/leaf is to increase my job application productivity, seek out opportunities even when there don't seem to be many, and not be scared to apply to a position for which I'm technically unqualified.
None of this is particularly new, I just think it's sensible to document it a little bit. Besides, Gen and Rae both started new blogs, so it's only fair that I try to get back into it as well.
Another leaf is related to my non-job hobbies/learning ventures. I'd like to force myself to practice the guitar more again, this time with an effort to simply improve finger dexterity and flexibility. Also, I need to download some language software again to try to work on the German again. After all, 'ich bin ein madchen' (I am a little girl) is hardly a useful statement to a 22, almost 23, year old man. Lastly, I'm trying to get back into running by joining up with a local running club called the Frontrunners. They're an international LGBT running club, which seems like it could be really awesome if I want to try to take some awesome trips to go race (not sure if I'm gonna be that hardcore, but I'm not sure why I shouldn't be).
