Journaling: LJ Imitation
I've been reading Bill's Livejournal off and on all day, and it just strikes me as a good way to capture moods and impressions and actions. So I think I'm gonna kinda copy the format here from time to time. When I'm not writing much, there's not a lot of excitement in a writing journal, so this'll pass the time.

Current Mood: The satisfied conclusion of a brooding morning
I've spent all morning and a bit of the afternoon mulling over the odd sense of something missing when I woke up this morning. It could've just been something as simple as waking up and not having Bill beside me like I had all weekend, but either way, I was admittedly shaken up today.
There was just this odd sense of something unachieved, something missing. Also, for whatever reason, in my distracted state of mind, I wasn't remotely sleepy nor remotely warm. Bill might argue I'm never particularly warm :-P but for whatever reason I was chilly today, even when I went to lunch. Possibly just a result of foggy dampness - which reminds me, happy Autumn everyone.
I haven't done anything particularly useful at work today. I've worked, but my efficiency feels pretty low. Plans tonight are to go look for some new running shoes, probably at the New Balance store in Oakland, for convenience and because they're known to be pretty reliable. After that, I'm hoping to get an extra soccer fix with the Hooligans club, but we'll see whether they're playing or not. I'm really liking soccer lately; it was something I gave up in high school because a lot of the players were assholes, but through pickup here at school, I've met only really cool people.
That more or less covers plans tonight, tomorrow is work again as usual followed by a trip to FreeRide to see what's to be done about my bike. I don't really know if that's gonna carry on at all, I think I might just buy a new one - Mom said I should as a birthday present from her - a shopping trip will have to be undertaken, but the prospect of having a bike excites me enough that I'll do it. Random word association with bike, Jake has been saying he wants to get a motorcycle license and wants me to take the classes with him. While I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with riding a motorcycle, I do want to learn to ride one and I think it'd be kinda fun. I'm not sure how easy it is to get into a class for it, but either way, should be cool when it happens.
Now for the general weekend update, which, assuming I have eventful weekends, might become more common. Bill and I went up to Thorn Acres in Geauga County (I think that's how it's spelled and where we were), outside of Cleveland, for the JCU Pep Band camp. This is more or less the yearly celebration of Bill's familial legacy at Carroll; one amazing thing about a big personality at a smaller school is that he had a fairly legendary influence during his six years there. While the band is a part of that, I think it's very much a two-way street with the band, he left his mark, to be sure, but I'd say the band made a much greater impact on him.
I didn't quite have as much fun this time as last year, for a couple reasons. For one, there wasn't a second night for the alumni gathering like last time. This was the much more party-like event that really made last year's camp a blast. It couldn't happen this year because the band had to be back for a football game on Saturday. Another reason was probably just me being more zonked than I really was willing to admit, since I got up before 6 on Friday to get to work at 7 and skip lunch so my 8 hours could be done by 3 o'clock. Saturday, lacking the alumni band party, was given over to an Indians game in Cleveland with Leanne, Erin, Michelle, and Jessica with later appearances by RJ and Pat. Mostly no one reading this will know who these people are, and I only knew Leanne, Erin, and Pat, but it was still a good time. Beforehand we visited Leanne's house and met her three (yes, three!) doggies: a yellow lab, a chocolate lab, and a black lab-great dane mix. They're all quite large and adorable! I really like when dogs get excited to greet you, though this can be a pain in terms of getting fuzzed and slobbered on. I just sorta got over it and made friends.
There was great feasting before, during, and even a bit after the game (including peanuts, cotton candy, swedish fish, Taco Bell, a Primanti's rip-off sandwich across from the park, Cracker Jacks, and some yummy pretzel-infused chocolate bars from a local candy place). Feeling quite stuffed, Bill and I returned to our hotel after a Wicked sing-along with the girls on the way back from the game. Sunday was some relaxation, watching some of The Devil Wears Prada while eating more chocolate and allowing hunger to build enough that a later trip to Mongolian Barbeque was feasible. Altogether, it was a very American, foody/lazy weekend, but that's really not such a bad thing all the time.
That's gonna be all my updating for now... Cheerio, readers!
