Poetry: "Wilderness"
Lone on the run,
past familiar streets
turned by darkness,
bodies heaved under
lake and earth to hide
broken victims who
also ran alone.
Carefully escaped,
vertically avoided,
another joins the flight,
more negative now,
downward tunneling,
communications held up
lighting a shrouded path.
Vermin exhale smoke
from cast down butts,
red eyes lasing through
the particulate haze,
and in the filthy darkness
the ancient summons
labyrinthine heroes,
and while all seems lost
the winding way is clear
and whirls through
senseless feeling,
random thought;
in the wilderness of dreams,
what will be found?
