Poetry: "A Prayer Upon Waking"
Ruinous affliction,
Unconscious hell,
No fairytale kiss,
To break the spell,
The suffocating night,
Stretching into day,
With sedated sleep,
Holding sway,
Into that void,
Falls a heavy head,
There’s nowhere safe,
From being your bed;
Your eyelids weighted,
They loosely hang,
Like your guilty head,
Tipped in shame;
Return to waking,
Rise up from sleep,
Pray yourself,
Your soul to keep.
